Jone Gloria Jensen (nee Anderson), died January 26, 2021, in Surprize, AZ, due to coronavirus She was born March 24, 1934, in St Cloud, MN.
A talented, curious and determined woman, Jone was educated at Jefferson High School, class of 1952, and at Drake University in Des Moines. She then earned her RN degree with a specialty in anesthesiology at the Methodist-Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, MN.
Jone’s career as a nurse anesthetist culminated in a specialty she loved, caring for pediatric patients requiring round-the-clock nursing in their homes. For Jone, this was a favorite assignment that capped her decades of nursing.
It was in the course of her work as a nurse that Jone met her husband, Carl Jensen of Albert Lea, MN, while he was a patient in the hospital where Jone worked. They married in Jefferson. Over the coming decades, Jone and Carl would move to Greeley, CO, southern California, and Stoughton, WI, before settling in the Phoeniz area.
Jone and Carl shared a determination to preserve their respective Swedish and Danish cultures. Scandinavian foods, clothes and art filled their home. The couple traveled widely, most frequently to Scandinavia. Jone and Carl were devoted members of the Lutheran church.
Jone is survived by her brother R.H. “Swede” Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Carl and her parents Margaret and Harold Anderson.
Jone will be buried alongside Carl in Albert Lea.
